Dear Friends and Supporters:

I have been honored to serve as your councilman for District 6 for the past three (3) terms. Today I announce my campaign to seek re-election and ask for your vote and support on May 9, 2009.

As your councilman I have heard from many of you the need to change the way the city delivers services. Together we have accomplished many of the goals for change that were set when I was first elected. As your councilman i have worked to hire more police officers and bring the police patrols to our neighborhoods to fight crime. Today we have the lowest crime rate in more than 10 years. I commit to continue to hire more officers to help protect the residents of District 6.

In an effort to clean our neighborhoods, with your input, the city of Dallas in 2008 located code enforcement officers in community satellite offices. Already because of this initiative we are seeing results in enforcement and better communication between our code officers and the community. Additional animal control officers have been hired to attack our problem of stray dogs. We will continue to improve.

With the completion of Singleton Blvd. and the continued construction of the Calatrava Bridge, the Beckley Bridge and Reconstruction of Canada Drive and Beckey, West Dallas is poised to receive a great deal of attention for investment and the development of the needed businesses and services we have lacked for many years. I will continue to look for better ways to attract more retail to areas suach as Mountain Valley and Arcadia Park. My commitment is to encourage economic development and also preserve our affordable neighborhoods so we may enjoy the benefits of this new development.

DART Rail is making a grand entrance into District 6 in the Bachman and Asian Trade District area. With the construction of the Royal Lane, Walnut Hill and Northwest Highway Stations along the Blue Line, Northwest Dallas will be among the most accessible comercial districts in all of Texas. The opportunities for development along Harry Hines and Denton Road will have inpact on the region for years to come.

I want to continue to serve you as your councilman and bring continued change. With you support we can make it happen.
